It is renowned for the ruins of a 1929 granite "Tea House" built by Mrs. Lora Josephine Knight, owner of the nearby Vikingsholm Mansion, and for serving as the home of eccentric hermit Captain Dick "Them's my toes" Barter between 1863 and 1873.
