This photos was taken from a kayak in Washoe Lake in Washoe County, Nevada. It is a lake where no motor boats are allowed. The horses are used to seeing people and photographers on land but not in water. These horses are all wild and free. They live off the Nevada high desert. The horses frequently approach the kayaks rather than running from them. When I am in a kayak, I have noticed more horse activity than trying to approach them on foot overland. The depth is created by the light starting to climb up the bank as the horse jumps in to the water, again. (Notice he is wet)
